I’m Not An Expert, But I Know A Few Things About A Lot Of Things

I Am An Inept Marketer

Some people have a talent for marketing, but I’m not one of them. I am so inept when it comes to making money, I’m good at spending it though. When I decided I wanted to make money online I tried lots of different things. One of them was affiliate marketing because I didn’t have to put any money out for most programs however some do require you to pay, but most don’t and those were the ones I went for.

I made very little money even the programs I paid to join and knew firsthand how the products worked I still couldn’t convince people to part with their money. One of the best programs is Bluehost and when you get someone to sign up and get verified you earn 68 dollars, but everyone out there that has a hosting account is also pushing it.

At one point I thought about offering a portion of that back to the customer if they signed up under me, but I decided it wasn’t worth it. I decided I was a horrible marketer and more or less stopped. I unsubscribed from many different places and lost interest. I think I still belong to one program that I spend 119 dollars a year. Last year I didn’t even break even and this year I might so I’m going to cut my losses and drop it.

Nope marketing just isn’t my thing, I’m very lazy and don’t put in the time to push it because it’s not very interesting to me. When I worked in the salon I never pushed products if someone liked something I was using and asked me about it I would explain what it did and usually the product spoke for itself and they would buy it, but I simply wasn’t a good sales person.

When I worked in the food business if I didn’t think something was good I told them my opinion and most times I would go get them a taste of whatever it was so they could make up their own mind and if they decided they wanted to try it then that was on them if they didn’t like it halfway through. If they had been sweet to me I sometimes took pity and would let them have something else.

The only product that I never had to push was alcohol and of course most times I had to limit that. We humans sometimes just don’t know when to stop so we sometimes need intervention. I hate when I go to McDonald’s and they ask me if I want french fries or an apple turnover with that, I know what I want so leave me the hell alone.

I know that’s how they are trained and they have to say it, but it gets monotonous after awhile especially if you go there all the time and get the same thing every time. When I worked at Lowe’s we had to say the same things over and over, but I did try to vary it with each customer so it didn’t sound so mechanical. I hated working at Lowe’s, I lasted 6 months then I quit.

Okay that’s enough about my inept marketing ability I have to get moving and get some other stuff done. Have a good one.

My External Drive Backup Boo Boo

I posted a while back about getting an external drive and backing up my computer and programs so I could roll my pc all the way back, which I did. However I just tried to use my external drive for a program that I had previously and found out that when I backed it up I didn’t have my computer checked so guess what? I lost all of those programs. Sometimes I worry about my mind.

I have passwords written down everywhere and haven’t gotten around to making a list and have them all in one handy place because I forget a lot. I had to redownload the FTP program that I use and of course I had to search out my ftp address, user names and passwords before I could even use it. I thought I had everything secure with the external, what a ditz.

I guess I need to get organized again because you can’t get anything done when  everything is chaotic so that will be my project for today, hopefully unless I get sidetracked again. I recently improved my workspace and got that all straightened out and thought I had everything else under control, but now I will have to try and remember the programs that I absolutely need and try and find them again.

Have a great day I’m not sure how great mine is going to be. It’s not good to frustrate yourself so early in the morning, but I’m sure I’ll get over it.

Read Reviews Before You Decide On Webhosting

New people starting on the Internet seek information from other webmasters all the time about how to make money online, how to set up a blog or website and should I use free webhosting or should I pay for it? I personally think you should pay for it especially if you are going to start a business because it looks more professional.

I know people that have used free webhosting and had so much traffic that they used up their allotted bandwidth and lost many sales because visitors couldn’t view their website for a certain period of time. As far as I’m concerned I wont buy anything from anyone that uses free webhosting. Of course it doesn’t bother some people, but I want to make sure it’s a professional site and my information is going to be safe.

Web Hosting Geeks can help you decide which web hosting is right for you because they find different webhosting companies and compare and rate them and not only that you can read other webhosting users reviews . Go read for your self what other people just like you and I have to say about a company before you use them.

It could save you a lot of time and expense if you know how a company performs before hand. I find that reviews are very useful if I’m undecided about something. If you’re a newbie you’ll like Webhosting Geeks because they have a lot of useful information all in one spot that will save you a lot of time searching. So go over and read the reviews before you make that important decision.

Using SocialSpark And My Embed Video Solution

Today was the first day ever that I actually took a SocialSpark assignment. Someone had a friends request in so I went there to approve it and looked around. I saw a SS opportunity that was agreeable with me so I checked on it and it was actually open without having to queue for it so I did it. It was also a free service that I signed up for because it just made sense.

I have been reading so many blogs lately that claim to be SS rejects and I am very surprised at some of the rejections because I enjoy reading their blogs and all I can think is that maybe the reviewers really don’t know what they are doing. Bloggers can use SS and make posts knowing that they are totally within Goggles guidelines. Even Matt Cutts says SS is acceptable in this format.

All of the links are nofollow so Google wont penalize you for link selling. I don’t like standing in lines at grocery stores so I definitely don’t like having to stand in line for an opp at one price and have it drop to nothing when it’s available to me. So if it’s not open for me to take at the price advertised when I look I will pass until I find one that is and that I can honestly write about it.

I have noticed that I have a problem embedding videos because the code changes when I save it even if I’m using the code instead of visual part so I save everything up to the video part as I’m writing and then when I am ready to publish the post I add the embed video code and click publish and that takes care of my embed problem. As those of you that know me know I have never been very technical, but I always find a solution that works for me.

I have also rearranged this blog so all of the social programs that I use are on the left hand side and all of my blog information is on the right hand side except for the meta info which I moved to the top left just to sort of balance the sides. I hope it doesn’t look too lopsided, but it will have to do for now because I wanted my EC card to be seen right off the bat for those that don’t have time to read and for those that are featured here.

Free Service To Ensure Secure Shopping Online

ShopshieldVisit Shop Shield® and find out how you can protect yourself online when making all those purchases with your credit card. More and more people are shopping online many places accept paypal, but not all and believe it or not lots of people don’t have verified accounts with paypal and don’t use it at all. This service is free for the time being and I just signed up for the beta testing.

It was simple to register and I also made sure I checked the VeriSign and Trustwave emblems at the bottom to verify that this site was secure and they are. So I now give my trust to this site. How many of you use your credit card and never click those emblems at the bottom? Just because you see an emblem doesn’t mean that it is authentic, make sure you click and verify before giving any personal information.

I’m convinced just from reading the site and information that is provided that this will be a very successful service for many and I know I worry often when I use my card, but with Shop Shield the information on my card never goes directly to the merchant that I am purchasing from. They encrypt  everything on my card so no one will have access to any pertinent information. Make sure you read their Faq page.

Learn More more about the beta testing and watch the short video below. If you’re concerned with identity theft then you may want to check this out for yourself. They aren’t beta testing the security of the program because that part has already passed and that’s why they are willing to open it to the public so they can make sure everyone has a smooth shopping experience and can enjoy peace of mind about their identity being stolen.
