Traffic, Traffic, Traffic seems that’s all I think about anymore and since finding out about Entrecard that seems to be all I’ve been doing. It can get tiresome dropping cards especially if you have more than 1 blog. I’ve been reading a lot of different blogs about their likes and dislikes with this unique program and what they have and haven’t gotten from it.
Every one has a different idea about what works, but I still haven’t gotten it worked out for myself. I have tried the power dropping and that goes a lot quicker, but I don’t get to enjoy the blogs. I used the socialcardster blog roll for a couple weeks until I realized half of them weren’t bothering to reciprocate.
Reciprocation is the whole idea or advertising on other sites so you don’t have to drop as much. At this point I am using my drop inbox and going back to page 12 and working my way to 1 sometimes I start on page 14 because many are the same sites on different days and if I get tired I simply whip out the power list and finish it up.
On occasion I use the chain dropping technique, but I think I like the inbox best because those people did take the time to drop on my blog. Since I have a lot of different interests I like looking at blogs from all categories instead of just sticking with the one I’m in. I do leave comments on other blogs, but not everyone I visit. I can’t get over how many blogs there are out there that are devoted to Entrecard alone.
I’m debating on buying credits, it would make it so much easier and I wouldn’t have to drop for three blogs. The problem I found when I went nuts with advertising this past week was advertising on the sites that I want and the price hikes. Also I try not to take it personally when someone declines me because I have declined some myself for various reasons.
I have just been racking up credits since I started with Entrecard and like I said I went nuts and didn’t even check the blogs that I advertised on which was a big mistake, but I wanted to splurge and try advertising. I always approve as soon as possible, but I noticed many don’t. I gave several days for approval and when they weren’t approved I simply canceled. I’m still learning and hopefully I’ll figure it all out soon.
I drop by using my inbox as well. I figure since these people actually drop on me, then I should return the favor.
page 12!?! I’m reciprocal as well - but I only do the first page. Of course, you are always there (thanks for that). I do on occasion check other blogs out - just to broaden my horizons. For the record, I spend my credits as soon as I get them - which means I can never afford the real expensive ones. Have a great weekend!
I’ve tried several of the systems in the past, but for me the inbox is the best.
Powerdropping gets hardly any reciprocal drops, and the UlinkIFollow only gave about 30% return.
From the inbox I drop the 1st few pages, approximately double the number of drops showing in my summary page. That way I cover any drops made the previous day, after I finished dropping.
Hopefully don’t miss any that way
Rik
Hi Canucklehead and Rik.. I really appreciate your responses. I think the inbox gets the best response so I’ll keep using that. I realize that people can get very tired of dropping after awhile and it feels like no sooner than you finish you need to start all over again. Thanks again for your responses. I really appreciate it.
Being active is much more important that buying ads. Ads are good for one day only, forum posts last longer.
Much the same here. I always use my inbox but I start at the beginning. I’m not a great dropper - I think I’ve only once got to 200 and that was very unusual. I try to find one or two different blogs each day, just for a change, and I visit any blog I’m considering for advertising. Like Canucklehead, I use my credits as fast as I get them and never can afford any of the biggies.
I agree with you on the inbox theory. If the person took the time to drop they will be more likely to drop again!
Although saying that, I do like to chain drop as that way I come across new blogs and advertise my site at the same time.
I don’t think we should pin all of our traffic hopes on Entrecard as many of use don’t have the time to drop 300 a day!
I start with my stats page. From there, I go to my ads, then favorites, then finally my inbox. I start on page 1 and work my way back. If the widget isn’t within two scrolls, I don’t bother. Maybe that’s mean, but between Link Referral and Entrecard, and trying to keep one blog updated and build up two more, I just give up if I don’t see the widget in the two scroll.
I also quit doing the powerdropping thing simply because just like any dropper, I want recipro-droppers. So, I decided to make my own list - My Serious Droppers where I patiently monitor if they return the drop or not. I delete the “lazy” ones and add the potential droppers. I get them from my inbox.
Of course, the blog should not be boring and has no adult content, or should be wholesome.
Is it effective for me? Yes, it is actually overwhelming and the comments can prove it.
By the way, I think I haven’t told you that you’re no. 75 on my list.
Thanks.
I use my Entrecard inbox as well, but to speed it up I’ve bookmarked the people who regularly appear in my inbox and this way I can simply open a bunch of sites in multiple tabs. Dropping on my top droppers and making comments takes me no time at all. Then I go to my inbox and look for all the black borders and drop on those. After that if I’m feeling like I want more credits I open up powerdroppers and start on the quickest pages, although I feel like none of them reciprocate.
I have about 50 bookmarked regular droppers that speed things up. I also make sure to drop on the site that’s got an ad on my blog, as well as the sites where I have an ad. I go through my inbox when I have a few minutes, but I also like to check out the newbies.
I use a hodge-podge of methods. Mostly, I start from my inbox and chain from there. That way, I thank people who have dropped on me, plus I find interesting new blogs.
I also sometimes chain out of people who have visited me through MyBlogLog or BlogCatalog. Often there is cross over there.
I also try to use BlogExplosion a bit. BE randomly selects blogs for me, so it is an interesting mix. Some of them also have EC, so I get an extra payoff when that happens.
It also depends on how much time I have to explore and what else is going on.
I would really like to thank all of the above people for their comments and for taking the time to answer I appreciate you sharing with me. I did very little work online this weekend and I appreciate all the visitors and apologize if I didn’t drop back on you.
I use my inbox and reciprocate the drops.
