I often wish I had taken a business course, but I didn’t realize when I was younger that I would try marketing let alone using the Internet as a money source. If you have read any of my past posts you will know that I have tried many different programs to make money online. Some have worked for me, but most were a bust.
Have I made enough money to retire? I retired from the work world several years ago, but not because I was making a lucrative living online. I would suggest to anyone that is thinking about quiting their real job to make sure they can pay their bills and take care of the family with what they are making online. I’m really not surprised at the rate businesses online go bust.
I have one site that I have made some money on from selling digital information, but I haven’t paid much attention to it in the past year because it isn’t as lucrative as it use to be. Can there possibly be too much information out there floating around? Of course there is and people are always devaluing that information by putting it on EBay for pennies, what a pity.
Seriously though the only way your going to make money with information products is to create something unique, that is in demand and there is an abundance of information both free and at a price to teach you how to do it. I know people still buy information, but many buy it and then ask for a refund. I was lucky I guess because I had very few refunds requested. I make enough money to pay a few bills and buy presents.
I also went the affiliate route and made a few dollars here and there, but that became a pain trying to keep up with the different affiliate sites so I really stopped being so active with that aspect of marketing and I never seemed to get the quota up to ever see a check. I still make a few sales from clickbank, but it’s not an income I would rely on.
Some people manage to make a decent income with these programs though, but I know they have worked very hard for it and I admire anyone that can earn a living from their marketing efforts. There is so much competition out there and I really hate to compete so I don’t. I know many people that thrive on being number one, I’m happy to just muddle along and learn new things.
The most money I have made at one place is writing for PPP because you can earn wither you have page rank or not, but if you like having page rank then I would suggest you wait till Social Spark is realized to the public because it will require the re=nofollow attribute and you should then be safe as far as the big G is concerned.
I received my Alpha key the other day so I am checking into it. I’m afraid it might take me awhile to figure out though. I’m sure after all the bugs are worked out it should be a good place to jump in and the socializing part with the advertisers looks to be very interesting. We shall see what everyone thinks when it goes Beta. Regardless of the programs you try on the Internet proceed with caution and you should be okay.
