Here I go again with my computer going haywire because of my firewall and virus protection. I downloaded and tried the Windows Live One Care and it seemed to be doing a great job so I decided to go buy it while it was on sale for 20 dollars instead of getting the subscription on line for 35. I should have just added my ownership code to the program I had already downloaded, but silly me didn’t realize I could do that and removed what I had and reinstalled from the disk.

Well, that was the biggest mistake I made last week because since then my pc has been acting very strange and freezing up on me. I decided to uninstall and everything calmed down and it’s usable again, but I don’t have the protection I need now. As most of you know I’m not very technical so I’m not really sure if my windows firewall is working or not, okay I just realized I can open my windows security and it showed me that it was on.

However I found a tool last week that enabled me to totally remove the McAfee Suite that was giving me such a fit that I downloaded through my server. Even though I thought I had removed it from my system it had doggedly hung in there and refused to leave me, It is now gone. Someone told me awhile back if I had a good firewall then I really didn’t need the virus software, but I’m not so sure about that. Needless to say I am now checking into different programs.

I know that Anti virus software can be very expensive so I will definitely be shopping around before I purchase another one, I like getting good deals, not that I’m cheap, just frugal. I work on the Internet and I need to make sure that my computer is going to function properly without so many threats occurring every time I turn on my pc and surf the net. I use to use Zone Alarm and that was a great firewall, but it started acting up, I am now thinking it was because of the McAfee Suite so I may try that again just to see.

At least a firewall can screen information from the Internet and check to make sure it is not harmful to your computer. If the firewall determines that the information is harmful then it will block it. I do know that is very important to keep hackers out, I really don’t want my information stolen even though I don’t keep important stuff on here. So I guess I will try and find an anti-virus software that will not be so intrusive with my other programs, but will protect my system. I have heard about hackers being able to break into systems and use them as a clone computer. I don’t want anyone using my  computer, but me.
