Going Green With LED Lights

Christmas lights cost a lot of money and cost even more when it comes to paying those electric bills during the holidays we use them. One way we can cut down the costs especially for those that go all out with the outside decorations is to use LED lights over the standard incandescent Christmas lights. They use 1/10th of the energy and last a lot longer compared to other lights.

I did notice when I worked at the home improvement store people were becoming more energy conscious and most people are trying to go as green as possible with most things around them. With people learning more about solar energy and other ways that they can cut down on the usage and conserve as much energy as possible it only makes sense to use LED Christmas lights too and besides they are much safer because they produce less heat.

There are many ways we can improve the environment and we need to learn to recycle more, like turning off lights when you leave a room, very simple, huh? Buy the new energy saving bulbs and replace all your old ones, you’ll use 75% less energy and your pocket will thank-you when it comes time to pay the electric bill.

This holiday lets try and do something better to improve on going green. It can’t hurt and will only make things better for our environment. I reuse my grocery bags for many things around the home and there are so many ways to reuse so many things I think I’ll sit down and make myself a list of all the possible ways that I can do better for my family and my space.

Without Conveniences Could We Survive?

What in the world would we do without all of the conveniences that we have come to rely on? Would we know how to survive without everything we take for granted? I can’t say I ever watched that show survivor, but I thought it was a good idea to see if people could survive without things we take for granted.

I honestly don’t know if I could survive, even though I use to live in the mtns., but I would think and hope that a strong will would help me persevere. I often wonder about the homeless and their ability to survive on the streets with so little while I don’t have a lot I certainly have more than I need. I have known some that would come in the restaurant and wash up in the bathroom, but we had to make them leave because it was bad for business.

You hear some of their stories and it’s heartbreaking and yeah most people have a heart, but they just don’t want to be bothered and they don’t want to be faced with circumstances where they have to actually mingle and acknowledge these people. Sure we give donations and give our old clothes away and then think that we have done our part to help these poor wretches.

Are we doing enough in our society to help, am I? The answer is NO! Do we think that they are trying to help themselves or do we just think they might love living under a bridge or in a box eating free in the soup kitchen and doing nothing.

We make it very hard for them to find a job because they have to have an address and phone to be reached at. And who wants to hire those poor smelly people with no decent clothes to wear, that actually have to carry around all their possessions with them for fear someone will steal their meager stash.

The Salvation Army and a lot of churches do their best to help as many as they can and you even see the celebrities working in the soup kitchens on holidays, how charitable. Well I’m sure they do make some hefty donations because they can afford to do so and that’s as it should be, because we are all brothers after all and share the same maker regardless of what we call him.

As a nation we are great kind loving people and we always pull together in an emergency, but once the emergencies pass then it’s back to normal and it’s every man for himself. I don’t think all of our problems will ever be solved because then it would be Heaven and there would be no lessons to be learned. No, I’m not going to talk about religion because I think everyone must find their own truths.

Unless someone is hurting someone else then what they believe is their choice. I know what I believe and I would never try to convert someone to my way of thinking nor would I tell someone they are going to hell if they don’t believe what I believe. It’s so funny how many Christians believe just that. I know exactly where I am going and nothing anyone says can change that.

We do what we can in this world that only has the reality that we give it and if we believe something is real then it does become real to us. We have the power to create because God gave it to us and we can change anything we put our collective minds to. Even though I don’t believe in religions I certainly believe in God and spirituality.
