Finding Solutions For Blogging Problems

I didn’t write anything yesterday because I was busy trying to find a solution for some of my blogging problems and looking for a workable wordpress template that I like. I have found a few, but I’m still looking. I also couldn’t figure out why my rss feed stopped working awhile back and I didn’t even pay any attention until I tried to add my feed to the blogrush site and it kept telling me that it was empty.

As you know I’m not very technical, but I am persistent so I went through all my plugins and found the Kontera control to be the culprit because it writes a kona span thing to keep kontera out of specified categories. I really hated deactivating that plugin because I liked it.

Deactivating the plugin also took 32 errs away from the 72 I had to make this template compliant, so now I need to get rid of 40 more. Looks like I will be getting rid of some mores codes and widgets soon. When I turned it off I went back to revalidate my feed and it did, but for some reason when I clicked on the rss feed under meta it still didn’t show up for me, but it was validated.

So I went the feedburner route and it works totally perfect for me so now I am trying to figure out how to remove the feed from the meta tag, but it doesn’t show up in the template…God I wish I was techie! Oh well I’ll work it out sooner or later. I guess I could just remove the widget.

I just added the Blogrush widget today and it seems they have been cleaning house and dropped 10,000 or so blogs that they considered wasn’t up to their standards. I really don’t know what the standard was like before because I only recently heard of them. Yeah I know sometimes I feel like an alien. I removed the widgets from blogcatalog and mybloglog because the traffic from them was pitiful. I still have the code on my template and I just might remove that too.

I also spent some time reading Andy Beard and some of the other bloggers talking about the BIG Google smack down and how the big guys are being beat up also. Every one has a supposition and no one knows the answer and seo’s and everyone are fuming and furious and running scared.

I guess we shall just wait and see what happens next since we the people gave them all the power. I hate that people feel that their credibility is threatened because of a stupid pr, but what is worse is the possibility of their lost income. I like making extra money with my blog, but I’ll be fine because it’s not my lively hood as it is for so many and I really hate that they might suffer over this, but who knows it may turn out better than before.

One sentiment I heard a lot today was a Google Ban from the people or they want the government to step in an slap Google around. Which ever way it goes I wish the best for everyone but the spammers and scrappers who seem to still hold on to their high page ranks, now that’s a real pity.
