Be Careful Of Employment Scams

Do you use the internet to look for job openings? If you do you need to be very careful. More and more people are looking for work at home jobs and some are being taken advantage of by employment scam artist, even using your local classifieds can put you at risk if you don’t know what to look out for.

Hard to believe that there are so many unscrupulous people out there that will take advantage of other people in need, but they are there just waiting to prey on you and take whatever they can. Never apply for a job that doesn’t give any information about itself. I know you must have seen the advertisements that urge you to act quickly because the positions are being filled fast. No experience necessary, will train, high paying position. These are red flags to look out for.

A real job listing will give you all the information you need about the position you would be applying for and about the company that way you can do some background checking yourself before sending a resume and giving your personal information. You should know who you are giving your social security number to. You may be a trusting soul, but never trust that information to anyone that you know nothing about.

You should never have to sign up for direct deposit. So if that is a mandatory requirement then be very suspicious especially if this is a work at home job and please never send a blank check for this process. Of course if it’s a well known company and you have verified this then it would be okay to give your information, but still don’t send a blank check.

You should not have to pay to get a job so avoid any listing or advertisement that requests a deposit in order to process your application or for training materials. Maybe you are desperate for a job, but do not let yourself fall for this scam. They should be paying you not the other way around.

When my son was younger he read an ad in the paper and they gave no information, just promising big money and they even had a room at the Holiday Inn for doing interviews. They required a deposit to hold his position for him and I said no way. They were very slick and really know how to talk people out of their money. They are after all con artists just remember not all offers are scams and hopefully you will never come across any, but if something sounds to good to be true then it usually is. Just be very cautious, It’s better to be safe than sorry.
