Halogen bulbs are ordinary incandescent bulbs, with a few minor modifications, the bulbs are made of quartz instead of glass. Halogen bulbs usually have a two to three time longer lifetime than an ordinary bulb and usually up to 10% more improvement and it depends on whether they use krypton, xenon and or argon to improve the efficiency.

We use them in our headlights and sometimes they actually hurt my eyes, but they are very economical and I also use them in my lamps at home. They can be expensive, but they out last regular bulbs.
