Active-X Scams
It seems a lot of people are without thinking downloading active x when they want to view something. Be very careful!
I know I have active x on my pc, but wasn’t sure if it was the right kind. I’m not that bright when it comes to that sort of thing and being an impatient human because I wanted to view something right now, I automatically took care of my problem and downloaded it.
Now how dumb was that? Well let me tell you it was very very dumb. I thought it was a safe site. Anyways my pc went nuts. Things started flashing, system warnings that my pc wasn’t protected and I had to download a choice of 3 anti-virus programs and I would have to pay for them of course and I noticed there was an affiliate number attached to the site it kept sending me to. Now this must be one desperate affiliate to rig a program to literally force you to buy something to fix the problem they created.
Well it was my fault because of my impatience!
I tried removing this thing I had downloaded and it said it was gone, but the thing wouldn’t go away. It just kept on flashing warnings. I downloaded an adware program so I could find the cookie and delete it, but it was taking too long. Silly me plus a lot of other unmentionables I called my self.
I was starting to panic and then I thought, Hey, my system has never done those flashing things before. So I made myself calm down so I could think. Then I remembered my go back feature, Thank-God I hadn’t disabled it. So I promptly went back to the day before an just like magic problem gone.
Just a word of warning I thought people should know about . Because even cautious people make mistakes. Have a great week-end.
