I graduated from cosmetology school in IL in Dec 2008. I never took my state boards due to the financial situation at the time. With years past, I am deeply regretting not taking my exam and would love to be able to and finally work as a cosmetologist. What are the next steps that I can take?

Hi,

I currently hold a Hairstylist license in the state of Colorado. I am thinking of moving to Illinois, however am confused by the process since it doesn't seem Illinois has just a Hairstylist program, just full Cosmetology.

I am having a tough time finding an answer to this question anywhere. Does it seem as though I will have to take classes in Illinois to become a full Cosmetologist? Thanks so much for your help, greatly appreciate it.

Andrea C/ You will not be able to just take a test, in fact you will have to acquire more hours to take their exams. You should contact that board and find out precisely what you need to do.

I'm about to get my Cosmetology license for the state of Louisiana (1500hrs), and I'm planning to move and get my license in the state of Iowa (2100hrs). I'd love if someone could tell me how to get my license in the state of Iowa, I heard i will only need to take a written test and that's it! but if anyone has more information i would appreciated a lot! TIA
