When you are battling problems relating to dry skin, finding the right home remedy for dry skin can be really important. Luckily for you, there are a wide variety of available home remedies for you to choose from when it comes to dealing with dry skin at home. Here is a brief collection of some of the home remedies that are available to you for dealing with dry skin. If you are looking to get the most out of your daily or regular skin care regimen, combine these tips in different ways until you find a skin care combination that works for you.

- * Dry yourself until you are damp, and then stop at that point rather than going any further. It is actually must more effective for you to apply a moisturizing product when your skin is damp right after a bath, than afterwords when your skin is totally dry.

You should not have to jump out of the bath while still soaking wet and immediately apply skin lotion. You should pat yourself down with a towel in order to dry your body up a bit before you apply lotion to your skin. You should still feel damp, because the entire purpose behind applying lotion is trapping the moisture inside your skin rather than drying it all off first.

- * It is also important that you avoid advertising hype when it comes to home remedies for skin care and dry skin problems. Nothing will ever beat natural remedies like mineral oil and petroleum jelly in place of expensive lotions. Dermatologists tend to agree that natural materials such as vegetable oil, peanut oil and sunflower oil are always great for combating dry skin, especially when it is related to the weather. These are effective skin care remedies and pure methods of skin lubrication as well, not to mention rather inexpensive.

There is one drawback to these products however, which is that they are capable of feeling greasy. The one thing commercial lotions have over these products is that people tend to prefer things that are smooth feeling and smell good, but if you’re looking for a natural option, consider the options mentioned above. Everything essentially does basically the same thing, so it comes down to how natural they are, and how costly they are.

When your skin is healthy and nourished again, and looks young and beautiful, you will be glad that you put effort into your home remedy for healing dry skin. There are a number of different natural options and remedies that you can choose for restoring health and nourishment to your skin. Combine different home remedies until you get the skin care results that you are satisfied with for the best possible results with your skin. Each skin care remedy is unique in the benefits that it provides you with, so don’t be afraid to experiment until you are satisfied.

I received a sample of Dermalastyl-B last week and have been using it as directed twice a day and since it’s concentrated I only need a small amount. I can really feel the difference in how smooth it makes my face feel and I’m hoping it will last a month because that’s when I’m guaranteed to see the big difference. I need to use it the full month, but I’m happy with it after only a week. If it reduces my present wrinkles and prevents more then I’ll be quite happy.

I would love to have a more youthful appearance like the photo above. I know I’ll never look like that of course so I don’t expect a miracle and I certainly don’t want shots or surgery. At my age I do need some help though and this product blends into my skin very quick and makes it feel stronger and smoother and works well under foundation. My skin feels like it has more elasticity and I’m quite pleased. This is very affordable at 89 dollars for a 2 month supply and a money back guarantee.

DermaLastyl contains Tropoelastin which you can read about on the website listed above and it’s getting rave reviews because it has over 600 amino acids and it’s stronger than the other anti-aging products on the market because no other product contains this ingredient and it helps increase collagen. There has been much research by Dr. Burt Ensley and the military is interested because of the tissue regeneration and scarless healing aspect.

Everyone is trying to be kinder to their body because everyone wants to live longer in this stress driven world and I must say it is getting harder all the time. We are desperate to relieve the stress and there are many things we can use like massage therapy, a basic stress free diet and simply learning how to simplify our lives. Getting rid of all the clutter and possessions that we think we just can’t live without, I need this and I have to have that needs to go.

Below is a list of supplements that we may use to help combat stress. So to make sure that we aren’t deficient in any of these vitamins and minerals the easiest way is to take a daily multivitamin and mineral supplement. You don’t have to buy the most expensive, but if you buy the cheaper ones you may need to buy extra vitamin C because the generics usually have a lower dosage. Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) is a natural stress-reliever.

Fish oil is a source of good fat (EFAs) and I hate to recommend it because as children my aunt got a perverse pleasure in making us take a tablespoon of cod liver oil every morning and I always got sick. After leaving that hateful woman I didn’t eat fish till I was a grown woman and it had to be a very mild fish then…Yuck I still taste that horrible oil, but as I found out later it was actually good for us. Your skin will be smoother and it has been reported as helping maintain a more stable mood.

Many people find St. John’s wort helpful in dealing with stress, however I can’t endorse or swear by it myself because I really didn’t see a difference when I took it. We all need to be sure we’re getting enough fiber in our diet because anyone can tell you that the results of not getting fiber are enough to cause stress for any of us. I personally like benefiber because you can’t taste it and it doesn’t get thick and you can add it to coffee or tea or your food, but it’s expensive.

Detoxing by fasting every once in awhile is not only good for the soul, but it will help clear out all those nasty toxins that build up in our system.

Choline — is a natural sedative.

Vitamin E (dry form, alpha-tocopherol) — helps get oxygen to the brain, vital for maintaining a stable mood.

Vitamin B1 (thiamine) — can help alleviate depression and anxiety attacks.

Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine) — dopamine and norepinephrine which are natural antidepressants can be produced by taking this supplement.

Tyrosine and Phenylalanine– speeds up the production of the natural antidepressants dopamine and norepinephrine.

Tryptophan — in conjunction with vitamin B6, niacin, and magnesium, produces
the neurotransmitter serotonin, the big daddy of natural anti-stress chemicals.

Pantothenic acid — is a natural stress-reliever.

Vitamin B12 (cobalamin) — helps maintain a healthy nervous system, improves concentration, increases energy levels, and helps relieve stress and irritability.

Folic acid — deficiencies can contribute to a number of different mental illnesses.

Zinc — healthy brain.

Magnesium — a mineral that combats stress and its negative effects on the body.

Manganese — reduces stress and irritability.

Niacin — needed for a healthy nervous system.

Calcium — alleviates stress and has a calming effect.

We all know that our body is made up of water, somewhere around 60% give or take for men and less I think for women and staying properly hydrated is vital for healthy skin, kidneys, and a healthy body overall. We need to consume water, but over a period of hours not all at once. There has been much discussion lately about the amount actually needed and as you can guess one of the symptoms of dehydration is stress and being irritable.

Nutrition for stress-free living is knowing what not to take in like nicotine, alcohol, sugar, saturated fat, artificial preservatives/flavors/colors, and substances that your body may not react well to (such as lactose, gluten, and caffeine) all start a chain reaction that ends in stress, among many other problems. If you really want to stop harmful substances from entering your body, consider switching to organic food, but that can also be very expensive. I have posted about these things before, but it never hurts to go over them again.

I think the following post should be a must read for any one that takes vitamins and supplements. I always like to find contributors who have something they wish to say to my readers.

Contributed by AA:

When it comes to vitamins and supplements, there is so much misinformation out there that it’s hard to know what to believe about them. There are many false claims from manufacturers, self-proclaimed health gurus with misleading information, and all sorts of well-meaning people who simply don’t know what they are talking about. Combined with the desire for people’s need to believe that vitamins and supplements will perform miracles for them, many myths and misunderstandings have developed surrounding vitamins and supplements.

Myth #1: Vitamins and supplements cure disease.
Facts: Vitamins and supplements can help prevent disease, help cure disease, and help lessen the effects of disease; but vitamins and supplements alone cannot cure disease. No one who is seriously ill should ever take vitamins in place of prescribed medication or medical care. The main benefit of vitamins and supplements is their preventative nature. For example, if you have a history of cancer in your family, you might want to take beta carotene to prevent the disease before you have any signs of it.

Myth#2: Vitamins and supplements are not medication.
Facts: While there are many people who take vitamins and supplements seriously, there are others who take them like candy, and don’t feel like they have any major effect. The truth here lies somewhere in the middle. While technically vitamins and supplements are not medication, when taken in the right doses, they can take on the same qualities. Studies that researchers conduct with higher doses of vitamins and supplements show that these kinds of doses can have almost the same effect as real medication. Taken liberally, they can interfere with other medications and have serious side effects. So, while technically vitamins are not medicine, they should be taken like they are.

Myth#3: You can’t take too many vitamins and supplements.
Facts: This is completely false. There are several vitamins and supplements that can be deadly when taken in high doses or for too long a period of time. Vitamins A and D, niacin, and iron can all have adverse effects, resulting in liver damage, heart disease, loss of nerve function, and increased risk of cancer. Other supplemental overdoses can cause milder medical problems like diarrhea, stomach pain, and sleeplessness. Taken together in large doses, some vitamins will also cancel each other out. For example, too much extra zinc can zap the effects of any copper you might be taking.

Myth#4: Vitamins are all the same.
Facts: Just because a substance is labeled “Vitamin C” doesn’t mean that it will have the same potency as every other “Vitamin C” on the shelf. For example researchers have questioned whether synthetic vitamin C is as effective as vitamin C produced from rosehips or other natural substances. Vitamins come in so many different forms and from so many different sources that it is important to read the label and also to be an educated shopper. This way, you will get the vitamins you need in the right form and potency.

Myth#5: Everything on the label is true.
Facts: The only thing that is true about any vitamin or supplement is what you read from independent studies or literature. Many manufacturers make claims based on research or information that is not accurate in order to make sales. If the label on a vitamin or a supplement makes claims that don’t sound believable, then they probably aren’t. Many of these claims are made so that the price can be jacked way up in order for the manufacturer to make a big profit. Save your money. Just because a supplement costs twice as much as the others, doesn’t mean that it will work better.

Myth#6: Vitamins and Supplements can replace healthy eating.
Facts: You can’t live on junk food and take a daily supplement and think that it will do anything. If you eat nothing but junk food and take a multivitamin every day, the only thing that it will do for you is make you feel less guilty about your bad eating habits. Supplements are just what they say they are: supplementary to healthy eating. They are definitely not a replacement for it.

I have done much facial waxing for clients when I worked in the salon and it wasn’t just eyebrows. I was surprised at the amount of women that came in for removal of hair on their chin and upper lip and felt horrible for them, believe me waxing the upper lip is painful. I had a young mother that came in once that needed the hair under her chin waxed and we started talking or rather she did and I listened and sympathized.

She was telling me about a dinner party she had for her husbands boss and his wife and how her 4 year old daughter was sitting on her lap and she bent down to nuzzle her daughters cheek and her daughter said ouch real loud and the little girl got down and went to the bathroom and brought her daddies razor back and told her mommy that her chin was moaning.

Apparently she had told her daughter that morning while she watched her remove the hair that some women had a problem with hormones and sometimes it resulted in mommies growing hair on their faces like daddies. I really tried not to laugh when she told me this story because I could tell she had been mortified in front of her guests and I know I would have been also, but I did chuckle a little later because you never know what a child might say or do.

I told you about a new product that has been getting rave reviews before I went on vacation called Reductase-5 and from the reports that some of the professionals I have worked with are telling me they have seen good results and the ladies like that the active ingredients are natural with no parabens. It usually takes around 90 days to see the results and you rub it on the affected areas twice a day.

Learn more about Trienelle’s Reductase-5 and see if this could be the break through you’ve been dreaming about, the answer to a prayer. Read more about it and ask your esthetician or beauty provider what they can tell you and then decide for yourself if you want to lessen the amount, coarseness, darkness, and speed with which that embarrassing facial hair grows.

This product is being endorsed by many in the health field like Dr. Christiane Northrup, Dr. Susan Lark and has been featured on Oprah, Today, and even PBS so if you’re tired of all the frequent tweezing, waxing, and other expensive treatments you will definitely want to find out more. This product is not going to make it disappear, but it will lessen the severity by 41% as shown by studies.

I bought a product called Triple Flex a few weeks ago with Glucosamine which is used to help joint pain and I thought since it was suppose to be natural that it would be ok to use. I don’t take medications except Tylenol or Aleve and I decided to try this. It tells you to take 2 a day for quick relief, but I decided to take one a day. I took this for a week, but I noticed a pain behind my left eye down to my shoulder and at one point I thought I was having a heart attack.

I thought I was getting a sinus infection and I felt like crap. I felt horrible so I missed taking one of the doses of Triple Flex and the next day I felt better and the pain let up some, but I still felt like crap so when I remembered I took my next dose of Triple Flex and the pain returned with a vengeance. Bill’s daughter is a nurse and she mentioned that they gave the Glucosamine to their elderly dog that’s why I bought it to start with.

I thought we could both use it for our poor old joints so when I took mine I gave him his. I had noticed he wasn’t like his normal self either and thought we were both just sick, but I didn’t give him his last dose when I took mine and if I hadn’t noticed how much better he was acting after 2 days without that stuff I never would have made the connection so I promptly stopped and each day I have gotten better and so has he.

I could kick myself because you never know how supplements will react in your body not even when they are supposedly natural. I’m sure many people take this product without side effects, but for myself and my Shadow apparently we were both allergic to it. My advice would be to check with your doctor before taking any supplements, but even they can’t be sure how your body might react so when taking anything new keep a record of anything different that occurs with your body.

Everyone needs a certain level of vitamin B12 to stay healthy. B12 is an essential water-soluble vitamin that can be found in dairy products, meat, fish and other sources that are easy to do a search for. Since more people are becoming vegans or very strict vegetarians they are not receiving the proper levels of B12 and other essential nutrients and vitamins they can develop a deficiency state.

Older people also tend to develop a deficiency because of gastrointestinal disorders. The B12 isn’t readily absorbed by the intestines or isn’t able to be processed right so it’s lost. That’s where vitamin B12 supplements come in handy because those can be absorbed. I have known many people that have gone for the shots, but I prefer the easy way, the sublingual way.

Sublingual comes from Latin which means “under the tongue” and I’m familiar with that usage for medication because I use to get really bad migraines and I would simply stick and ergostat under my tongue right when the aura thing would start and it was absorbed very rapidly. Well now if you have a vitamin b12 deficiency instead of the shots you can use the sublingual method.

I think everyone should have a check up and you should ask your doctor if you have concerns about any of the following symptoms because you may have a vitamin B12 deficiency. The following symptoms could also be caused by other medical problems so check to make sure.

anemia

fatigue

weakness

constipation

loss of appetite

weight loss

numbness and tingling in the hands

numbness and tingling in the feet

difficulty in maintaining balance

depression

confusion

dementia

poor memory

soreness of the mouth or tongue

Trivita is a well known supplier of vitamin and preventive health solutions and they have a lot of information that would be beneficial for you to read. If you’re like me and don’t always get in for that checkup when your suppose to and you are feeling run down and need more energy then b12 can help, but I suggest the sublingual because it’s a very small pill and dissolves directly into your system and it’s actually a pleasant taste. I didn’t mind it at all and I recommend sublingual b12 over shots Click here to get your own box of Trivita Sublingual B 12.

I have always loved the sun and always looked forward to getting a tan because I looked better. I went to Rehoboth Beach one year with my sister and got sun poisoning after that if I was out in the sun I would break out all over in blotches, that was horrible.

So I decided to use the tanning beds and found that after I had a base tan I could be out in the sun again. I know all about the effects of the sun and tanning beds, but I like having a tan although I stopped tanning 4 years ago because I became a recluse and hated going any where for a period of time. For me tanning was relaxing and I felt better.

Since riding the Bike with Bill I found that my body changed and I can be in the sun without a base tan now. Since I basically wear jeans and t-shirts my arms and face get tanned, but the rest of my body is white and since I don’t see it, it doesn’t bother me. I already have a tan on my face from riding the bike, but under my eyes where my glasses shade are white and it looks funny.

Instead of the dark circles I have a white circle. When we were at the store Saturday I picked up Jergens® natural glow Daily Moisturizer and they included a sample tube of natural glow face. I haven’t tried that yet, but I tried the bigger tube. You are suppose to see a change in skin color after a week.

I was afraid it was going to be like that instant tan thing from the 60′s and make you all orange and streaky, but it isn’t so I’ll keep using it for awhile and see what happens. It rubbed in easily and I didn’t find it greasy plus it had a pleasant smell. I need to start applying it all over so I can really see if it makes a difference

It only cost about 7 dollars so it’s no big deal if it isn’t any good, but so far it feels just as good as the expensive stuff I’ve used as far as moisturizing goes. This is day 3 and it says a difference after a week. Let me know if you’ve tried this product and the results you got.

As we get older we need different types of nutrients and supplements and for the past month I have been taking Sublingual (under the tongue) B12 because of all the benefits for someone my age actually it’s recommended for 40 and up. I took the picture below so you could see that I do actually use a Sublingual B12 product and you can see my blog in the back ground.

All you do is put one under your tongue in the morning and let it dissolve so it gets directly into your blood stream. I like to comparison shop so I found TriVita today and they have a special running so I may switch to that brand because it’s well known and respected and the product sounds better, besides I like the way it’s packaged and I think it will stay fresh longer.

As we get older our body has a problem absorbing the B12 that we need and this is the solution for me because I refuse to get the shots. I know some of my friends have gone that route and even my sister-in-law had to have the shots when she was pregnant and she always had huge bruising spots where they gave her the shot, I hate needles, I’m a wuss. I have noticed a big difference with my energy level and B12 has many other benefits that you should really read about.

Get Trivita Sublingual B12 Here or at least read all of the information that is provided so you can make an informed decision between shots or this product. I have even been told that it helps with depression.

The informed urban man is learning more about mens skin care and it’s becoming a growing booming business. Let’s face it a mans body is different than ours and needs a different type of care, although the care of any human body regardless of sex is similar with cleansing, the texture and the amount of glands are different from a womans so therefore needs a different type of care.

This is a fairly new product line and the really good thing about this company is that they donate a percentage of sales to different charities that support the fight against prostate cancer. Men will use a womans product, but it doesn’t always work the same and some of the products for men on the market are simply like womens skin care and simply gives no benefit. If your looking for some unique products for men then you might want to check this line out for your man.

I did see a product that may work for Bill’s dry skin and that is the “Glycerin Hand & Body Lotion,” it’s fragrance free if someone has asthma which Bill does and the ingredients sound good, sea kelp for strengthening, shea butter for softening, aloe vera and glycerin to moisturize, chamomile to smooth and a nourishing bunch of vitamins A, B5, C and E. These ingredients combined should work great.
