Fashion For Me Is Jeans And A T-Shirt

jude8753 | Fashion | Wednesday, 12 November 2008

At my age my idea of fashion is just being comfortable and I’m definitely not comfortable in dress up clothes so therefore I don’t go anywhere formal and when I do it’s usually the basic black for me. I don’t think I even own a dress anymore, I donated them all a few years back. I never could walk in heels so when I do dress up it’s usually my dress boots.

That doesn’t mean that I don’t love watching fashion shows and seeing what’s in and what’s on the way out. I also love watching makeovers, but I certainly would never put myself through one especially not one of those extreme surgery makeovers because I’m a wuss. I’m sure I had some fashion sense when I was young because I wanted to fit in.

I’m not like my friends at all because they can tell you exactly who is wearing which designer and if it’s a knock off or an original I have never been able to do that because it just wasn’t that important to me. If someone looks nice in whatever they wear that’s good enough for me. You don’t have to spend a fortune to look nice.

I’m not into brand names, but I know the world is and so many people are judged and judge by what they or someone else wears. I knew a man once that judged people by the type of shoes they wore, now how petty is that? Well, I will admit he was right about one person he had warned me about and several years later I had to admit he had been right, bummer.

Fashion is great if that’s what’s important to you, but for myself I’ll just stick to my comfortable jeans and t-shirts and if they try to dress me up when I die I’ll come back and haunt them.

You Don’t Have To Spend A fortune For Glasses

jude8753 | Fashion | Wednesday, 29 October 2008

I have the worse luck in the world and that is especially so with my eyeglasses the best pair I ever had cost me way over 400 dollars and my dog when he was a puppy got them off the coffee table and chewed them up. I was devastated because I worked very hard waitressing to pay for them not to mention the cost I had paid for him several months earlier which was slightly more than my glasses.

So I relied on magnified reading glasses for years after that, but I was afraid I was ruining my eyes so I had them rechecked and I have had my newer glasses now for 3 years and they also cost over 400 dollars. With my bad eyes and what I have expected in my glasses that is way too much money and I keep losing the screw out of the part that connects the ear piece with the lens. Well I have see Zenni advertised all over the Internet and now I know why, because they are very affordable.

The way the economy is and the cost of glasses it makes it very difficult to afford new glasses when I need them and I find that the older I get the quicker my eyes change so no way can I afford 400 dollars every 2 years and I don’t have insurance so from now on I will have the examination and order the cheaper glasses online from Zenni Optical and since we ride a Harley I need shades so I found these which would be perfect with the clip ons.

Price – Lens & Frame: $23.95
Lens Width 49mm, Height 28mm, Bridge 19mm
Frame Width 134mm, TempleArm Length 139mm
Frame Weight with 1.57 index lens 17 grams

A medium narrow size half-rim frame matching polarized, snap-on magnetic sunshade included.

The above photo and description was taken from the site, but I gave them a link back. They have so many styles to choose from and the prices are ridiculously low and that’s because they cut out the middle man and produce their own frames so they make it a no brainer for me at my age and how fast my eyes change. They start at 8 dollars for complete single vision eyeglasses and go up for bifocals and progressives and the Photochromics are only 39 which I have now for 400.

Children are forever breaking their glasses so this would be a great option for them also and at those prices you can afford backup.

Are You Dressing Up For Halloween?

jude8753 | Fashion | Wednesday, 08 October 2008

Are you going all out for Halloween? If you haven’t started planning your costume for all those parties you’ve been invited to you better get started now. I will be staying at home and we will have our own celebration. I haven’t decided if I will dress up for the kids or not when Bill hands out the treats. I know the kids like to dress up and take the little ones around to neighbors they know, but lately I feel like I wear my Halloween costume all year round just by being me. Yes, that was an attempt at humor.

I always like to see how original the kids get, but the last few years they have all looked the same. I guess it depends how popular the characters are in some of the latest movies. I know some pretty creative people that come up with some pretty cool themes, but I’m not creative when it comes to dress up and pretend so I have to rely on premade costumes if I want to impress anyone and as far as I know there is only one shop around here for adults so most people have to choose from online shops.

Halloween Costume Stores are so much fun to visit and get ideas, but if you aren’t very creative then you can always rent them and the link above will give you a good deal and they have free shipping on orders over $60 until 10/10/08, but you have to hurry and they do have quick and easy returns. Like I said in my previous post there aren’t many places to get Halloween costumes around here so if your not creative then this is for you, go ahead and check them out and order online, no fuss.

Designer Denim Jeans For $17.95

Women Or Junior Clothing At Discount Prices

I’ve written about Heavenly Couture before because they have designer named fashions that can’t be ignored and you can get these brand names at 85% off. As I often say I love a bargain and it tickles me when I can share a good place to shop. You can buy denim jeans and shorts that would cost upwards of 80 dollars or more for just $17.95.Women and junior apparel where the prices just can’t be beat. If you want the designer jeans without the designer price then you need to check them out before their stock is depleted.

Personally I love the boot cut, but you can get flared or the skinny jean plus skirts and shorts. I am basically a jeans and boots person as I told you in my last post, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have a little flair and style just because your more comfortable in denim. I never saw my Mother in a single pair of pants and I certainly don’t remember jeans way back in the 50’s. I was born in 53 and my Mom died in 1960 and I certainly don’t know how we did without denim, especially jeans.

With the cost of living escalating and wages not keeping up I figure any time we can save money on a fashion look that makes us feel trendy without spending a fortune then that is great. Speaking of we the poor, it seems we always manage to find a way to look trendy no matter what we buy. I know I’m not elegant and sophisticated even though I did try once, I’m simply stuck on my jeans and if I can find designers cheap and they fit, then I am definitely in Heaven.

Fashion And Music/Great Mix

jude8753 | Fashion | Monday, 11 February 2008

I watched the Grammy Awards last night because I like to look at all the fashion and hair styles and it dawned on me how very unfashionable I really am. Actually the only time I cared about fashion was when I was in high school because I wanted to be like everyone else. However that doesn’t keep me from admiring style and those were some beautifully dressed celebrities.

I love to see the in styles and watch other peoples deportment and how they act and it’s always a plus when music is involved. I love almost any type of music and it’s always cool to see the people I grew up listening to and how they have aged and check out all the botoxed faces. I always wonder how all these icons must feel being on display, but I really enjoy seeing them.

I thought Tina Turner was still fantastic at 68, 69 in Nov. and thought to myself that I’ll probably look like 100 when I reach her age and it was nice to see Cher also. I can listen to almost anything music wise and I like rap and hip hop, but there is no way I could tell you who any of those celebrities are. I am definitely out of the loop when it comes to some of the younger stars.

I really loved the Josh Groban duet with Andrea Bocelli, I could listen to those 2 forever maybe they could do an album together, I know I would certainly buy it. To my ears that is what music is all about, simply beautiful. Some people can handle the lime light, but I certainly wouldn’t be able to fit in, nope not in a million years. I would be more like Howard Hughes, very reclusive. Someone else can have my 15 minutes of fame because I don’t want it.

I have always been a jeans and t-shirt person because that’s what I’m comfortable in and I have never felt the need to even try and compete except in school, but I grew out of that phase fast. Dressing up makes me very uncomfortable, at one point I thought I would try high heels instead of boots and sneakers and bought about 7 pairs of gorgeous heels from a well known store that was going out of business.

I love a bargain and these shoes were beautiful, needless to say I think I wore one pair once and realized I simply wasn’t coordinated enough to pull off the elegant look. I felt so awkward, just like a little girl playing in her mommies shoes so I gave them all away to a lady that knew how to walk in them and gratefully went back to my boots. I also feel very uncomfortable in dresses so I know I would never be on a red carpet event.

High School Fashion What Is It

jude8753 | Fashion | Monday, 22 October 2007

Going to high school when I was a teenager was a time of growing up and maturing and besides all the book learning it was learning how to be accepted and learning socialization. I know it’s the same today and it’s an exciting time, but seems to be more pressure on our teens of today, figuring out where they fit in and can be accepted for who they are or who they may think they are now. Even though the fashions have changed there was always pressure and a certain look you had to maintain. Some of the fashion looks of today are:

1) The Rocker – Rock band fans are very much into this high school fashion and it’s very popular. This may include shirts that sport their favorite bands or that make a statement and you have to have a lot of trinkets including tribal necklaces and some studded braclets. You have to have an attitude to go with this fashion. You have to have a passion forrock music and it helps if you have huge headphones with an ipod to go with the look. Maybe a couple of drum sticks or some other musical acceseory would finish off the look.

2) The Jock – To have the jock mode just wearing the varsity team jacket would transform any outfit into The “jock mode”. The jock look is easily accomplished by trying out for a school teams and actually earning the right to wear a jacket and they hide behind the jacket and big letters because of their poor fashion sense. However the school debate and varsity chess team don’t count and even though we’ve always had this look around it just dosen’t count.

3) The Goth – Black is the only word that describes the Goth fashion. This high school fashion is often used by people who wish to make statements of anguish or angst. The more weird looking the accessories they have to have them and you have to have the black eyeliner and black lipstick. Even though our students that make use of this fashion want to claim they do so in order to show their individuality, it is more commonly caused by wanting to belong to a group of people who want to show that they do not belong. I went to beauty school with one such goth and it was very interesting to watch this young woman turn into a butterfly.

4) The computer geek – Our geeks and nerds were always known because of their never-cool-clothes. The thing is,they are always so busy trying to save the world and their other projects that they just didn’t care. Now a days if you dress geeky and nerdy people turn their head because they think that maybe you will help them with projects because computers are a hit with everyone and they tend to overlook the phenomonon, doesn’t mean your gonna fit, but they love the look because of recent shows and try to emulate it.

5) The Fashionista – this is the hardest look to maintain since it requires that you always be updated on the latest high school fashions. You need to research thoroughly on the subject of what’s hot and what’s not. You need to constantly scout out malls in order to be the first one to have the best outfit ever. Your duty does not end here. As a fashionista, you will have to establish the highest standard of high school fashion.
