We live in a society where people focus more on the bad and ugly and not so much on the good. We even do it to ourselves, we all have little imperfections and instead of focusing on our good points we let the bad one over ride and take center stage. The beauty industry loves to point out all of our flaws so we will buy their products and they do a fantastic job of making us feel inadequate.
Even though we hear about all the good taking place in the world it seems to go in one ear and right out the other, but when something bad happens then that makes us sit up and take notice. Your day can be going along on an even happy keel and all it takes is one bad thing to ruin the whole day. I stopped reading the newspaper awhile back because all that you read is negative bad news, but that’s what sells papers.
You have probably noticed yourself that people want the dirt on other people. They don’t want to hear what a great person someone else is because that’s boring, forget all those good deeds just get to the negative stuff. People love to hear and read gossip about their favorite celebrities whether it’s true or not and most celebrities don’t mind because that keeps their name in the public spot light.
When I was in school we did an exercise about gossip, the teacher asked us all to leave the room and then she called one person back in and told them a nice very short story. One by one she would ask a student to come back in and have the person before them repeat the story to the next. This was a fun exercise in communication and it was amazing to note how fast something nice could be turned around so quickly.
She had the original story written down and by the time the last person retold the story it had totally changed from the original nice story into something bad and horrible. No one could remember everything that was told from the start and had added or taken away as they saw fit, that’s when I stopped listening to other peoples gossip because I realized how detrimental it could be to someones reputation.
I like to know what’s going on around me it’s not like I stick my head in the ground, but I try to dismiss the negative from my life and embrace the positive. I try to see the good and reject the bad or to see that silver lining when something bad occurs and try to turn it around. I was told once that depressed people always see the negative and even draw it to them. I want to focus on the good energy and draw that to me instead.

Hehehe… my teacher also gave us the same exercise (I think she called it the “chinese whisper”). We failed miserably too coz somewhere along the line some of us decided to “juice” up the story a bit. It was fun though
