It’s too bad that I feel the need to learn from my mistakes “hopefully” and not from someone else’s. I have seen people do things over the years and have seen disastrous results, but even so I have attempted the same things myself and expected a different outcome. We humans are a funny lot and I gave up long ago trying to understand anything we do.
When someone cooks something for me that I like I usually ask them to share their recipe and if I follow all directions then usually it always comes out the same. So why in the world if someone has been through an experience and shares their outcome with us why don’t we take heed and learn from their mistakes?
Are we so arrogant that we think bad things wont happen to us, only we will have a different result by doing the same things. We often hear our parents tell us, I want you to learn from my mistakes so the things that happened to me wont happen to you. How often do we learn from other peoples mistakes?
I have often heard people say I certainly wouldn’t want that to happen to me and then turn around and do the very same thing to cause the same misfortune or heartache, but a lot of times we tend to emulate and try to achieve the same successes others have had and for whatever reasons those don’t always turn out the same way so I wonder why that is so.
The only thing I know is we each have the need to learn in our own way “trial and error” regardless of the outcomes we experience because each lesson or part of our life has so many variables that we feel anything is possible for us and the only way to learn is by our own experiences and not someone else’s and that shapes who we are and who we become.
