I have 2 dogs which I adore and they are both special in their own way. Shadow is my Eskie and I have his baby picture on the right, it alternates with 4 other photos so if you refresh this page the photo will change.
I’ve had Shadow since he was seven weeks old and he’s 10 years now, I now refer to him as my little old man. He’s probably one of the smartest dogs that I have ever been privileged to love and share my life with.
I can actually tell from the tone of his bark when Bill comes home or if it’s a stranger coming to the door. Depending on what he wants he has a different bark or tone so we have our own language it’s really weird, but I always know what he is asking for or needs.
Sometimes when I’m working upstairs and if Bill lets him out and forgets to give him a treat he will come to the bottom of the steps and tell me or bark up to me until I go down and ask Bill if he forgot again? He tells on Bill for a lot of things that he thinks he’s been slighted for.
Sadie is a Pit-Lab mix and she’s around 8 or so and that’s a guesstimate since she was picked up as a stray and there were no details, Bill adopted her from the SPCA as a young adult so we gave her Shadow’s birth date so they can share together.
She’s not quite as smart as Shadow, but she is unique and she does something that I have never ever seen another dog do, maybe you have , but I certainly have never seen any other dog give them self a pedicure. We never have to trim her nails like Shadow because she methodically does each one front and back.
At first I thought it was a nervous habit like someone biting their fingernails, but I watched her and it’s so cool she knows exactly how far to chew them down and they look pretty good and when she walks and runs on the sidewalk any jagged edges get filed away. Does your pet do something unique?
