Putting politics aside it seems many women admire the way Sarah Palin looks. There have been many reports of women flocking to the beauty salons requesting the Palin cut and style and apparently it doesn’t stop there they also want her glasses too. Before you know it they will be asking for the Palin nose. Get real ladies, stop trying to emulate someone else and develop your own style.
When I worked in the salon girls and women and even guys would bring in photos of the cut and style of celebrities not understanding that even if they got the same cut depending on the type of hair they had it may not look the same as their idol. You can try explaining that to your client, but they usually refuse to hear what you have to say and still insist they want that cut even if it isn’t suitable for them.
Dealing with the public is tricky and when they specify the cut and the results aren’t what they expected even though you explained it to them they still get angry and blame you because it didn’t turn out the way they wanted it. Sometimes our hopes and expectations just aren’t possible and while we’re on this subject make sure you have the right shape face for the Palin glasses.
On the reverse side … I’ve gone in to see “stylists” and asked them to tell me what I should do with my hair. What would look best on my face, body frame, what style would work with my hair type, etc. I was handed magazines and books and told to pick out something I like.
Needless to say, I wouldn’t go back to someone who calls themselves a stylist and won’t give me any input as to what would work best for me!
Fortunately I found a good one! I don’t mind paying the little extra to put myself in the hands of a true professional.
