Our culture places such an emphasis on youth and beauty! And that's an age old problem. If you read in the Old Testament in the book of Daniel (chapter 1), King Nebuchadnezzar chose the young, handsome, intelligent young men to train for his service. If anyone doesn't know the story about Daniel, I think you'd find it really interesting and intriguing. Not only did Daniel love God, but he was also into health food. Where it talks about Daniel wanting to eat vegetables, the original word means those foods that come from seeds and includes fruits, veggies, and whole grain. I agree, too! As a society we all need to accept that we don't have to look like a fashion model to be beautiful. The same mentality that has our celebs going to extremes for their looks also pressures the Chinese government to put a "pretty" little girl in front of the world singing instead of the actual singer. I live in a community that women have gone absolutely crazy with this. Each of my neighbors have no telling how much time and money in plastic surgery. They spend half of their life asleep trying to heal. I have two children. I really feel for them. Just the other day...we were walking around the mall and he saw a woman with no breast. He mentioned to his friend that she needed to get a boob job. This is what they are growing up with. It is a subject that I am not sure how to handle on the home front. I totally agree.
