August 12th, 2008

Seems that everyone has a home remedy these days something that they swear by and couldn’t be with out and it’s true that many work and have been handed down through generations. Many people have actually taken the time to research and compile information into helpful guides and books.

People are getting tired of the rising costs for medications and medical bills and have taken to the home remedy route. There are many things in your cupboards that actually do and can help over the expensive prescriptions that are shoved at you on a daily bases so I am listing a few things below that you may want to take a look at.

Acid Reflux: Reduce the sizes of your meals from 3 large to 5 or 6 smaller ones, you put less pressure on the stomach which helps reduce the acid reflux. Cutting down on spices will also help. If you don’t want to cut out the spices you love then take two teaspoons of blackstrap molasses every day, you can find this at health stores and it’s effective in reducing the occurrences of acid reflux. Eating a raw apple after your meal will also help reduce acid in your stomach.

Acne: Many products such as cucumbers mixed with a little water to make a paste and applied to the skin for 30 minutes can help prevent a breakout, but should be used daily. To help dry up acne make a paste using whole milk and nutmeg, usually you will need more than one application before you will see results.

Mint juice is also effective by it’s self or mixed with turmeric powder for a drying up effect. Make sure it stays on for at least 30 minutes then rinse thoroughly with warm water being careful not to overly dry out your skin. Orange peel mashed with a little water to make a paste can also help reduce acne, many people also use strawberry leaves to help reduce painful swelling.

Nail Fungus: Is a big problem and many people use many home remedies. Bill has used Vick’s salve with good results. Tea tree oil is also used by many to help kill infection and fungus and keep the nails clean. Apple cider vinegar and warm water to soak in has also had beneficial results in killing fungus.

Oregano oil and olive oil mixed together works as a great antiseptic, antifungal remedy just use a couple drops on the affected nail for quick results. You can also spray grapefruit seed extract twice a day on the infected nail for good results. You can usually find these things in a health food store.

I will add a few more home remedies that people use for different small ailments tomorrow. The main thing is to know the difference in your ailments that can be treated simply at home with a natural remedy and the more serious ailments that should be treated by a doctor. We all know that chicken soup and vitamin c is good for the common cold, but flu and pneumonia should be treated by a doctor.
