Dealing With My Ugly Yard

I pulled out the lawnmower this morning and it’s still sitting exactly where I left it without being used, but I made the effort then decided to come in and work on the Internet. My yard was nice at one time, but with my dogs urinating everywhere it’s a total burn out and not very beautiful.

I had Shadow fixed when he was a pup and I thought the idea was to keep them from lifting their leg and cut down on their sex drive, but it certainly didn’t happen with Shadow. He lifts his leg on everything and tries to hump everything in sight even pillows and blankets when he gets the chance.

I asked my friend at the Vets if she was sure that they had removed everything and she said yes and that I must just have a horny dog. I didn’t find that very amusing though and if I had known it wasn’t going to make a difference I would have saved him the pain and myself the money.

We live in a row house and when you walk out the door you’re right in somebodies face or rather they are in mine so I planted a row of shrubs and I’m willing then to hurry up and grow that 15 feet that they will be at maturity. Bill and I had to make a picket fence to put in front of them to keep Shadow from lifting his leg and killing them.

It also keeps him from attacking the stray cat that thinks he lives here. I can’t grow flowers because my dogs think they are suppose to eat them and my yard is so small that I can’t put fences up everywhere to keep them out so I’m still dreaming about my home in the country where I will be able to grow what I please and they will have enough space else where.

I am dreading the day that I will be without these 2 members of the family so I’ll just make do with my ugly yard and enjoy my beloved pets and try not to complain about all the bare spots and the mud that gets tracked in when it rains. Shadow has a run right next to the fence where he likes to patrol for the cat and it turns to mud and with his big ole white fur paws it’s hard to get all the mud off.

So cleaning the kitchen floor is another thing I will stop complaining about after this post at least and all the hair that sheds every where because I have been so blessed to have these lovely animals in my life and they have given me much joy and happiness and loyalty.

Shadow will be 11 in August and Sadie is around 9, we don’t know for sure because Bill adopted her from the SPCA. These 2 have had a good loving home and are well taken care of so it really bothers me when I see the cruelty that some people inflict upon animals. Well, now I feel guilty because Bill just got home from work and must have thought I got the mower out for him, I hear it going now.
