God Bless And Keep Our Beautiful Fighting Men And Women Safe

It would be lovely if we could go through life with blinders on and only see the beauty in everything, but that’s not possible so we learn to cope with our life and surroundings and for the most part we do a fine job. Sometimes though we read and see things on TV that are heartbreaking and we feel helpless and lost.

Tonight was one of those times for me. I watched a program about young people that were serving in Iraq and being blown up and returning home with missing limbs and trying to cope and readjust to civilian life. It was heartbreaking to see these young people with their whole life ahead of them torn apart because of a stupid war.

My family was lucky because my nephew at least escaped bodily injure of course I have no clue the damage done down deep inside. These kids see a very ugly side of life and it’s just not right, it never has been and it never will be. I really don’t ever expect to see world peace or an end to wars. It just seems to be a human condition to argue, fuss and fight and resort to violence.

It’s not bad enough that we can find any kind of wars you can think of going on in our on cities and towns that we can’t even control and stop. No that’s not bad enough, we have to send our children off to some god forsaken land to fight someone else’s wars too. At least I can understand the Civil War, but none of the others.

These poor kids feel like they are doing their duty to protect their country and homes and they are and I consider them very honorable. But why isn’t their country protecting them? I’m sorry for ranting that isn’t what this blog is about. I am grateful to see these brave young people home regardless, but so saddened and sorry to see the havoc that war has caused in their lives.
