I live in Connecticut and have 893 cosmetology hours completed in our states 1500 required hour program. I know that New York state has a requirement of 1000 hours, 500 less than Connecticut. I am wanting to transfer my hours over to new york and when I spoke to someone in a New York state school I was told that I would be able to take a 900 hour equivalency test as well as bring in my obtained hours into their school and finish within a month. Now they are saying since I live in Connecticut, I am only really halfway done with New York requirements and would have to be in school for 500 hours more than what they origionally thought. Can someone help me out? I'm not sure what the real answer is to this story...

I am currently in school to obtain my Cosmetology license in Florida (1200hrs), I may be moving to upstate New York 6 months after obtaining my license. I've been looking for information online regarding reciprocity but haven't found a clear answer on how difficult, if even possible, it will be to transfer my license to New York State. Has anyone had experience with transferring to NYS???

snook ki m if there's no reciprocity then you just have to take their state boards if you have the accredited hours that are required by Georgia instead of trading license. Maybe you misunderstood what they said. I have never heard of anyone having to go back to school unless they didn't have enough hours.

I am an esthetician with 5yrs experience in CA moved to GA last month. I just found out that GA does not reciprocate CA license so I need to start beauty school 1000 hrs all over again. It is really hard to believe. Really??? Does that happen to everybody?

I have a manicurist license in Texas. I want to work in CA. What should I do to transfer my license from Texas to CA. If I want to keep my Texas license, how can I have another manicurist license in CA? Do I need to take other theory and practical exams in CA to get the CA's manicurist license while I have the Texas' license? How long does it take me to do the duplication?
Thank and regards
