Maybe the license are prepared different in different states, but usually it will say license number and then depending on what you specialize in it will start with the letters, for mine since I am a Cosmetologist mine starts with CO, but I really don't see how you can miss it because consumers are allowed to view your license that hang in a shop and get the number and report you if you're doing something wrong and if you carry your card it says License Number in big letters, if it's active, and the date it expires..
