Beauty is definitely in the eye of the beholder especially when it comes to body piercing. How much is too much? It cracks me up when I see tons of metal hanging off of a persons face because that’s all I see and it looks mighty painful to me. Not to mention when they talk and you see metal in their tongue. That is one dangerous place to get pierced because of all the bacteria. Your talking some major infection…Ouch!
I have my ears pierced and that’s it and I seldom wear my ear rings anymore because for some reason even gold causes them to get sore. The younger generation think that the more piercings they have the cooler they are. I tend to think many are seeking attention and the shock value to the older generation.
You see many things when you work in a salon and are asked to do very extreme things to people’s hair also. I have to admit there were a lot of things I refused to do. I cared more about their hair than their money and if they chose to go somewhere else and have it done then so be it. They usually came back to try and get it repaired. A lot of hair stylist that I have known really didn’t care one way or the other. It was just a head to them.
I have seen some of the most radical hair cuts also, it seems young people have some urge or need to shock and be different. One young lady had long pretty hair and had her whole head shaved except a 1/4 inch of hair around the whole perimeter. I am most grateful that she wasn’t a client of mine because I wouldn’t have been able to do that to her.
It’s different if someone is sick and prefers to have it cut very short before it starts falling out. I had to cut my sisters very long hair for her when she started taking Chemo and it was difficult because she loved her hair, but she wanted to get use to it and not see it fall out all over the place. She is in remission and her hair is long once again.
I think a small piece of jewelry on the nose or eyebrow is fine although I tend to focus on the nose jewelry and not the person when I speak to them even though I try my best not to, I just can’t help it because I find it extremely funny. I think the navel ring is cute though. Oh well to each their own and more power to them. So long as it makes them happy and feel special, that’s all that matters.
