I know there is a lot of information on the internet about anything you can think of, but it seems many people aren’t sure how to find the information that they need. I have been very surprised from all the comments from people that are moving and just aren’t sure what to do about reciprocity. I have basically stuck with cosmetology, but I realize nail techs and others need info too.
The laws are changing constantly in most states and usually the official websites for the states will post any amendments or changes in their laws and regulations and they usually do a very good job at updating. I love trying to help, but in all cases it is always best to call the state board in question to make sure the information you are given is correct.
Next week I am going to start with Alabama and find the most pertinent info I can about cosmetology requirements from each state and try to put it in a short post for each so you will have the information you require all in one spot. It may take me awhile to achieve this goal for the 50 states, but I think there is a definite need and I hope it will help.

I have my licence for cosmetology instructor as well as my basic licence for the states of Virginia and North Carolina. I wanted to know if I would have reciprocity in Connecticut. I have been Practicing cosmetology in Virginia for 3 years now. What do I have to do to obtain my licences in Connecticut?
Hi Pete,
Yes there is reciprocity and you need to have your certified license sent to Connecticut. You can download the form for certification and follow the directions.
