Reciprocity Questions About Florida

jude8753 | Cosmetology Reciprocity | Wednesday, 31 October 2007

Ok I am starting to segment the question and answers I have been receiving about reciprocity because they are getting too long and people don’t have the patience to sift through. So I am making a start and will be moving them to their own page. This is just a start, but I’ll keep adding so please be patient.

Angie :I have my licenses for Indiana can I go to Florida and take their written test and be able to get my license for there or do they not recognize my hours of schooling in the state of Indiana?

Answer: FLORIDA
Florida Board of Cosmetology
Address: 1940 N. Monroe St., Tallahassee, FL 32399-0790
Phone: (850) 487-1395
Fax: (850) 921-2321
E-mail: callcenter@dbpr.state.fl.us
Web: www.myflorida.com

Reciprocity: No, but will endorse another state’s license that requires similar or more stringent requirements than those of Florida students and since Indiana has 1500 requirement and Fla. only 1200 you have more than enough to qualify, but you are usually required to take additional tests in order to be legally licensed to work in that state. Be sure to check the website above and phone or email to make sure of everything required.

Boo-Spook-tiful Halloween To Everyone

jude8753 | Beauty Misc | Tuesday, 30 October 2007

I  changed the colors on this blog because I was looking for a different template and couldn’t find one that I like hopefully it can be read easier. If there is something else that I can do to make it easier don’t hesitate to tell me. Until the page rank update which went from a n/a to a 3 I received a lot of traffic from Google, but now the opposite is true. Usually the visitors were fellow cosmetologist requiring some sort of information.

I haven’t really checked to see who the visitors are now because there are very few people asking for professional information. I have decided that there are too many comments on a few of my posts that keep people from finding the same information that is asked repeatedly so I am going to separate and make separate pages so it can be found quickly instead of  someone having to read through all comments that may relate to what they want to know.

I have had a hard time getting in touch with some of the state boards so I do not envy anyone that lives in those states and can certainly understand why they would seek help from someone outside their state. It’s not always easy to find the information you need and most times when you do it’s outdated. Laws change constantly and for the most up to date information it is best to contact your state board.

I always like to try and help, but I can not be held responsible for information that is not up to date on their websites. I try to keep abreast, but like I said it is constantly changing and websites and blogs are not always updated. If you have any questions about anything I will do my best to find the answers for you or at least try and point you in the right direction and if you have your own beauty, health or fashion blog I would be happy to exchange links so people can find other sources that may help and it doesn’t hurt that they raised my resource page to a 3 so it will count more.

I will start on the segmentation of comments soon so it will be easier to find information from your area. I have to go eat now and watch the trick- or- treaters, aren’t they boo-spook-tiful. Happy Halloween to everyone and be safe !

Detox Your Body Naturally

jude8753 | Beauty Misc | Tuesday, 30 October 2007

Setting up a cleansing or detox program is not an easy task. You need to undergo various procedures. It includes health history evaluation, physical examinations, biochemistry tests, mineral level tests, dietary analysis and other related specific tests to diagnose your entire health status. These are helpful in determining the appropriate natural procedure that you should take to clean up your body.

Take note, analyzing your present health status, disease, and symptoms as a result of your lifestyle, familial or inherent patterns, and diets can help in creating a body detox plan that is best suited for you. Remember, any healing procedure needs a plan that must be followed accordingly to achieve positive results.

1. Proper Diet. People who are lacking energy and nutrients need a diet which is high in protein and nutrients for improving their health. Mineral deficiencies, fatigue, and low functions of organs should have a much supportive diet. However, in this particular circumstance, short cleaning of the body for three days can help in eliminating old debris. It also prepares your body for building healthier blocks.

If you feel congested with travel, stresses, and different foods, drink juices or eat lightly for a few days. It can display a huge difference. You could also eat low protein foods, high-rich-carbohydrate foods, and vegetarian foods for a couple of years. Mild detox can consist of vegetable meals which add proteins in your body. Fresh fish with a lot of vegetables can also energize you.

2. Using natural herbs. There are different body organs which are prone to the high development of toxins. One of them is your colon. Keep in mind that large intestines can accommodate much toxicity which can result to its sluggish functioning. So, detox programs are created to solve this problem. Fiber supplements cleansing diet are incorporated for cleaning and toning colons. It includes herbal laxatives like psyllium seed husk used alone or combined with agents such as betonite clay, acidophilus culture, and Aloe Vera powder. Enemas using herbs, diluted coffee, or water can be used for cleaning your liver, another important organ of your body.

3. Regular exercise. Exercise stimulates sweating thus it eliminates toxic wastes through your skin. It improves general metabolism and aids in your overall detoxification. Aerobic exercise done regularly can maintain your body to stay non-toxic because you are prevented from bad habits. However, exercising can also increase toxic productions in your body so it must always be accompanied with antioxidants, adequate fluids, mineral and vitamins replenishment as well as other related detox principles.

4. Regular bathing. It is very essential in cleaning your skin from accumulated toxins. Sweats and saunas are most often used in purifying your body via more enhanced skin elimination. Dry brushing your skin using the right skin brush is often suggested before bathing.

5. Massage therapy. It is very useful in supporting detox programs. It stimulates body functions and elimination promoting a more relaxed feeling clearing you from worries, tensions, and mental stresses.

6. Recharging, relaxing, and resting. This is important in the rejuvenation process. It helps your body in rebalancing your attitude and mind which sometimes interferes in natural homeostasis. Practicing yoga is a powerful exercise related to breathing regulation and awareness helping you to obtain a more balanced and active aura.

Choose the right procedure you need to incorporate to clean your body from toxins in the proper way. It can make you feel much better and healthier.

Taking Supplements To Help With The Aging Process

jude8753 | Skin Care / Vitamins | Sunday, 28 October 2007

As the old saying goes “I’m not getting any younger” and believe me no one else is either and it seems like a long aging process, but it really happens quickly. All of a sudden and you wake up and think dang I got old quick.

Our bodies are forever going through the aging process. Bringing the clock to a standstill is out of the questions and I really wouldn’t want to, so we need to take care of ourselves on a daily basis which I sometimes neglect. As we age, to make up for some of the declining chemicals and substances our body stops producing we have to take dietary supplements and vitamins as a substitution.

Dietary supplements are sometimes needed because as we age our diets change and we eat less. Sometimes we eat more. As our skin and digestive system starts to change, so do our vitamin levels. In order to keep these levels up we may need to take a supplement to bring that level up where it belongs to keep us happy and healthy as we age.

Not having the right vitamins can cause cancers and chronic diseases to develop. We all need to understand the vitamins that we need and how they will help keep us stay healthy and safe. In all, we have two different kinds of vitamins, which one is the fat-soluble [A, D, E, K] and the second one is the water-soluble [B, C, P].

The fat-soluble vitamins if taken too much of can turn into a poison toxic. Our bodies produce Vitamin D and K, and the vitamins A and E need to come from our food or a supplement to help prevent cardiac disease and some cancers. Therefore, it is very important that you have the right amount of A, C, and E.

The water-soluble vitamins help our kidneys get rid of our excess waste on a daily basis so it is very important to get the right amount daily. You should consult with your physician to learn which vitamins and supplements are best suited for you.

Chiro-Kleenz is a healthy, natural herbal tea that detoxifies and trims the system. It is designed for both men and women. NOTE: This tea will cleanse the body of poisons, yet you should note that the tea could cause cramping, and frequent bowel movement.

As we get older, our diets change and we don’t eat like we should. In addition, the foods we buy sometimes don’t have all or enough vitamins in them. The farmers are using fertilizer and chemicals to make their crop larger and better and with all these chemicals, it lowers the vitamins that you get from your diet.

Not eating the right diet or not enough can cause your vitamin level to drop. Some things you need to know are that Vitamin D is produced from the sun and the older we get the less we are outside, so by taking vitamin D it can help the brittle bones in our body and make them stronger.

Eating the right lean red meats, chicken and drinking skim milk will help with the b-12. Taking Vitamin B-12 and B-6 helps to reduce heart disease. B-12 will help the red blood cells produce and maintain the nervous system as well too.

There Is Always Some Kind Of Denominator

jude8753 | Beauty Misc | Friday, 26 October 2007

There is always someone, somewhere that will always find the common denominator to pull people together and make everyone feel like they belong and comedy is one of the ways, but sometimes I do think it is carried a little far.

And No I haven’t been away I was just busy trying to find another template and I think I have and I have been working on it plus doing some research, but it really doesn’t matter because Google has cut down my searches and traffic and that sucks, but I’m trying to make it beautiful. Yes I’m laughing at me because my ideas of beauty conflict with the way other people see things.

I can’t type the way I talk so it really doesn’t matter, but I am Southern born, but lived in numerous states so I actually don’t feel like I have an accent, but every now and then it does slip out. I actually didn’t realize some of the things I was use to (usta)  saying until I heard Jeff Foxworthy. Now that will make you stand up and take notice when you listen to this man and I have to say he really does tick me off , but of course I was gonna say piss, but decided not to.

He made me take a long hard look at myself and you know what? I Love me inspite of the way he makes money from making fun of his roots and the people that thinks he’s great, even though I thought I changed my speech pattern sometimes it does slip out and people still make fun of me because I do live in the North.

Just wanted to drop in a note because I have been trying to keep abreast of everything going on and everything sometimes just feels like it weighs me down. I try to have a great attitude about age, but sometimes it just pulls me down with this stupid menopause. Okay I’m Going to shut up now and take a nap. You know what they say about us old people, well maybe you don’t and since you don’t I’ll just say goodnight and God will bless you.

Permanent Cosmetic Makeup Technicians

jude8753 | Beauty School Insights | Tuesday, 23 October 2007

Someone asked for help in finding information in Kansas about becoming a Permanent Cosmetic Makeup Technician and it seems they are having a difficult time with the board in getting any real feedback. I have sent them an email, but I haven’t received an answer yet. I have been trying to retrieve information about schools there that may offer a course, but have been unsuccessful.

Update: I received a very prompt email from the Kansas state board and this was the reply.

Please forward your mailing address and a packet of information regarding tattoo/permanent cosmetic licensure will be sent as soon as possible.

There are no schools in Kansasfor tattoo/permanent cosmetic training. Individuals must obtain training through an apprenticeship in a licensed facility with a licensed tattoo/permanent cosmetic trainer.

The listing of approved trainers will be included in the packet of information. If we can be of further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact this office.”

So for anyone interested in learning more and getting training in this field send your state board an email and ask for a list of trainers in your area that you can contact. Since I really don’t need this list and I live in another state and am not intending to move to Kansas I don’t have the urge to send my physical address for the list. So I urge the person who does live there to simply use the email address cherie.daniels@kboc.state.ks.us and ask for the list.

The Society Of Permanent Cosmetic Professionals is an excellent place to get information about this career. It would be easy for me to go take a week long course and get certified because I already have my cosmetology license, but it’s actually not something I would be interested in doing.

I know it’s a very lucrative business because I called to see about getting permanent eyeliner which would have been around $800 or so. I also wanted to find out the persons qualifications and experience and was told that they were a registered cosmetician. I would never go to anyone that only took a week training course because you would definitely want someone that has passed stringent sanitation classes along with knowing about the care of skin and facial structure.

Aesthetician or Cosmeticians have to go through an accepted curriculum and pass state boards and most usually go for more in depth training later to learn how to do different processes like micro-abrasion or Microdermabrasion plus many go for the training course to learn the permanent makeup techniques because it has become a booming business.

If your simply curious about tattoo and piercing laws for any state or country and what is acceptable you can check tattojoy.com for a list. Depending on the state you live in some tattoo places also offer permanent makeup and offer apprenticeship courses, but you would need to find out the laws and regulations that govern each state.

I am thinking about getting a tattoo on my arm, but I want to read up on it first. I decided against the permanent eyeliner and will stick with my liquid. Those little needles scare me especially around my poor old eyes. If any Permanent Cosmetic Makeup Technicians drop by give me a shout and let others know where you got your training and if you have any advice please feel free to leave it.

High School Fashion What Is It

jude8753 | Fashion | Monday, 22 October 2007

Going to high school when I was a teenager was a time of growing up and maturing and besides all the book learning it was learning how to be accepted and learning socialization. I know it’s the same today and it’s an exciting time, but seems to be more pressure on our teens of today, figuring out where they fit in and can be accepted for who they are or who they may think they are now. Even though the fashions have changed there was always pressure and a certain look you had to maintain. Some of the fashion looks of today are:

1) The Rocker – Rock band fans are very much into this high school fashion and it’s very popular. This may include shirts that sport their favorite bands or that make a statement and you have to have a lot of trinkets including tribal necklaces and some studded braclets. You have to have an attitude to go with this fashion. You have to have a passion forrock music and it helps if you have huge headphones with an ipod to go with the look. Maybe a couple of drum sticks or some other musical acceseory would finish off the look.

2) The Jock – To have the jock mode just wearing the varsity team jacket would transform any outfit into The “jock mode”. The jock look is easily accomplished by trying out for a school teams and actually earning the right to wear a jacket and they hide behind the jacket and big letters because of their poor fashion sense. However the school debate and varsity chess team don’t count and even though we’ve always had this look around it just dosen’t count.

3) The Goth – Black is the only word that describes the Goth fashion. This high school fashion is often used by people who wish to make statements of anguish or angst. The more weird looking the accessories they have to have them and you have to have the black eyeliner and black lipstick. Even though our students that make use of this fashion want to claim they do so in order to show their individuality, it is more commonly caused by wanting to belong to a group of people who want to show that they do not belong. I went to beauty school with one such goth and it was very interesting to watch this young woman turn into a butterfly.

4) The computer geek – Our geeks and nerds were always known because of their never-cool-clothes. The thing is,they are always so busy trying to save the world and their other projects that they just didn’t care. Now a days if you dress geeky and nerdy people turn their head because they think that maybe you will help them with projects because computers are a hit with everyone and they tend to overlook the phenomonon, doesn’t mean your gonna fit, but they love the look because of recent shows and try to emulate it.

5) The Fashionista – this is the hardest look to maintain since it requires that you always be updated on the latest high school fashions. You need to research thoroughly on the subject of what’s hot and what’s not. You need to constantly scout out malls in order to be the first one to have the best outfit ever. Your duty does not end here. As a fashionista, you will have to establish the highest standard of high school fashion.
