I went to cosmetology school in NY when I was in high school and never got licensed. I now live in Indiana and would like to know if I could take the state boards exam here? Also, i graduated in 2009 from cosmetology school and wasnt sure if my hours are even valid anymore.

I am getting my NY State Cosmetology license and I will be working in this state for a year or two, I am planning to move back to Florida. How does the transfer of license work from New York to Florida? Do I just take Florida's State boards or would I have to go back for 200 more hours , Thank you -Brittie

Hello, I currently hold professional license in 3 states California, Georgia & Nevada. I've held my California license for 15 yrs, Geogia for 11 yrs and Nevada for a few months. I'm looking for a state that would reciprocate my barbers licenses and 20 yrs experiences as a stylist in the entertainment indusrty for a cosmetology license? Is there one and can you point me in the direction of that state?

Thank you

Hi, i am planning on taking cosmetology courses in massachusetts but i may be moving to new york in the process of taking classes. is it possible to transfer my hours from one school to another? and how would financial aid work in this situation?

Hi I have a question about Cosmetology examination in Michigan.
I registered on 1-6-2011 and I took my practical test on 1-4-2012 after passing my practical test I registered to take my Theory examination 1-5-2012 which is next day. I failed my theory exam and now i have to retake it. but they are not letting me retake it since my eligibility expired 1-6-2012. I called State of MI and they looked through my files and they told me if i passed my practical before my expiration date, i have a whole year to take my theory and pass it. Is this true or does this mean i have to re-take my practical and theory test all over again?

Thank you.

Amber, I am licensed in Iowa and Ontario and have been licensed in Florida as well. I have 2100 accredited hours of training and numerous additional courses as well as being a salon owner and having over 20 years experience. I don't know how one gains more experience than this. I came to Ga from Ontario to be with my sister who passed away from breast cancer. Count on taking the written and practical. There is no rhyme or reason to this system. I feel like the $5000 I spent on training is a complete waste of time money and government resources when I see some of the ignorant that actually work in the field and the work that comes out of some of the salons. I also just learned that it is possible to be handed free points on the exam if the state sees fit. It is not about safety and credentials. It is about money and preferential treatment.
